glide or 350

Post by nj69camaro »

Question;

Ok this what i have available to me.
Putting my 468 , 550 hp at 5800 , 10 inch 4500 turbo 350 did 11.40s weight 3750 and 4.10's
and drag radials came from my 69 camaro before i sold it.

No i'm putting it in a prob 2900 lbs 79 malibu drag car with 4.30 spool. 28 inch slick
it has a glide with a 1.82 first gear. 8 inch 5500 stall

Now i think the 5500 8 inch stall is to much for it.

Should i put the 10 4500 stall converter in the glide

or put the turbo 350 10 inch 4500 trans in together

or leave the 1.82 glide with the 5500 8 inch stall and a brake.

prob neither are the best but thats what i have to work with.

Thanks for your time
Kenny

It depends,,

If your car hooks well, the 350 has a great first gear.

If not i would go with the glide.

And a smaller conv should work much better, the 5500 i would think to be way too much for your set-up.

Are you foot breaking the car ?
