Pin on hoods

Post by grayghost »

How many pin points do you guys with pin on hoods use? There are 4 on the hood I just picked up, but there look to be a bunch of stress cracks around them. I was wondering if more, like 6, would be better for the durability of the hood.

You can do 6 but you also need to fix the stress cracks, most of the time it comes from the hood not being fitted tight with bumper bushings if it came off a street car. Most use the quick release, and not pins, it pulls it down and you can add as many brackets as you want to line much of the hood with virtually unnoticable releases.

I'll have to check out the quick release thing then. It looks like the guy that had the hood just let it flop around causing those cracks.

I have hood pins in each corner and zeus fastaners on the sides . I never had problems with stress cracks but I hate the zeus fastaners and with probally take them off and patch up the holes and just use the hood pins until I get the car repainted next year
