Wiring gauge question for my system?
What gauge wire would you run for two 650 cranking amp batteries to the starter. From the starter I have the power panel for the fuel/water/2 fans and all the normal blinkers and heads lights for a drag race truck.I also have a 140 amp alt. What gauge would you run.The batteries are in the bed so from battery to starter is 12 feet of wire.

You could use as small as #2 but I like larger so I used "0" on my battery to starter,To the panel and alternator I would use #6........I use a "Ford" starter selnoid inside my Malibu on my panel that feeds my GM starter.....Off the Ford selnoid I feed different breakers that power my lights, fans and nitrous systems.........PM me for more info......OLDHEADs10aromeo wrote:What gauge wire would you run for two 650 cranking amp batteries to the starter. From the starter I have the power panel for the fuel/water/2 fans and all the normal blinkers and heads lights for a drag race truck.I also have a 140 amp alt. What gauge would you run.The batteries are in the bed so from battery to starter is 12 feet of wire.

I use 0/1 welding cable the is finer strand mean better current flow and it has a doulbe jacket that is a bit heat and abrazion resistant , it also is more flexable than battery cable
