sheet metal upper?

Post by 88blownstang »

I have been looking at trading my systemax upper intake for one of those sheet metal uppers.I beleive it is a hogan but not sure..maybe later i can look into it.Well my car is going to be a street car and i was just curious if anyone has switched to one of these and noticed increases or decreases in torque or low end power?..kind of in a hurry on this post im heading to work but i have a 306 with afr 185s yada yada..its a turbo car with a 70mm turbo.Would i be better off maybe sticking with the regular systemax upper?..i really only want it because it's soo much more simple and doesn't get in the way as much.I am only limited to a certain amount of power anyway so its not like im trying to squeek out everything i can get lol...any input?

Most sheet metal intakes are tuned for a specific combo. It's usually hit or miss on whether it will work for your combo. I don't know about the particulars of your set up, so it might be fine...

Yea the systemax II is supposed to be the best intake like that for power adder cars and makes more torque than the rest.I don't really want to get a different upper and hurt that.

I really like the simple intakes like the efi spider how there is nothing to the upper so you can get to everything easier and its not in the way and if it will help or atleast not hurt me I will get the sheetmetal one..just need some input lol

Thats what i would do if you are looking at switching... A convert'd victor jr will not hurt.

I believe most stick with the long runner type intakes because of the torque.. when switching to the small box uppers you lose torque but gain top end
