7/27/2008 - Atco 8.50 Index & quick 8 Event Coverage

Unfortunately today we got hit with bad weather after the first round of eliminations in both events.. it was just one of those summer days where the humidity and temperature were perfect to spawn up a thunderstorm. A bad break for the racers that showed up, but that's what we have to deal with for outside sports I suppose.. Some minor cleanups did not help the cause either.

Was good to see Joe Newsham and company back after some transmission troubles at Etown on Saturday night. One of his crew told me that they busted up something in the trans on their first pass Sunday, and swapped it out with a fresh one before the second qualifying pass. Also, a few of the 8.50 guys were also racing last night, glad to see such a dedicated bunch put all the time, money, and effort to make it to the races

Anyways.. here are the shots and videos we caught from today (videos may not be up til later Sunday evening). If you see videos labeled wrong, just let me know, because I am an idiot with the muscle cars. Mixed in with the q8 photos is the cobalt that was making test passes

The official word from Atco is that both races were called after 1st rounds of eliminations.. so the race is considered complete

Thanks for the vids and picks, and hanging in there just before we made the pass the sky was black. Lighting was all over the place. Everybody was running to there cars and trailers… It was a good day at the track.
