8/7/2008 Atco 10.0/12.0 Index, Test and Tune

Post by iceman »

Weather was beatiful tonight for the latest installment of Atco's 10.0 and 12.0 index program.

Both races brought a respectable car count, with a 16 field being decided on before the first round of qualifying went down. Index racers were pitted on the new tower side, due to some space being taken up by the NMRA race being set up on the other side. Personally I thought this help move things along as everyone was real close to their staging lanes and made it up there quickly when called.

The 10.0 class.. the bump to make the show ended up being a 10.105 I believe .. competition was tough as during quailfying people were cutting some damn good lights, but also some breakouts here and there.. I'm sure all racers had this on their mind as the sun went down and the air cooled off. Taking it all the way tonight in the 10.0 class was Craig Curtis, who cut a .000 reaction time on a 10.040 pass to win the final against runner-up Chris Ely. Can't be mad with such an impressive pass put up by Craig. Craig had some pretty good trees tonight, with r/t's of .011, .012, .039, and the .000 under his belt.

12.0 -- known as the Harvey 12.0 Index class tonight!.. Harvey family taking #1 qualifier, David Harvey Jr. taking the win, and his son taking runner-up. I can't forget everyone else though.. who were busy putting up a fight the whole way -- Besides some breakouts, not one pass by anyone in the show was greater than a 12.09 during eliiminations. Results are below.. they speak for themselves :)

Gotta tip my hat to the Atco staff tonight for a well run program. Calls to the lane were clear and on schedule, cars were brought up in an efficient manner and sent down the track on their way. When the drivers were in their cars and ready, the T&T crowd was held up and the index program was given priority. Of course helping it was the racers being quick to get to the staging lanes and lack of cleanups tonight... good work guys, that is how to do it

Thanks again to Atco for giving us the opportunity to be down on the starting line covering tonight's races.

Also a big thanks to Carey for making his comeback to the starting line and taking video.. looking forward to seeing the results!

Also I met a few more members in person today, and saw some familiar faces around.. good to see you all again. George from Kooks, was good to shoot the shit with you guys in the lounge after the race.

Inside the Test and Tune gallery is a little Saleen eye candy... I'm tired and that's all I gotta say for now - enjoy folks!
