90 suburband rear door stuck

its a 1990 chevy suburban, my moms. rear doors, open out to the right and left (not the tailgate door). the inner rod in the handle i belive fell out, or the handle is broken.. you can hear the power locks locking and unlocking the door. what options do i have to open it?

can i break the handle and use a rod with a hook inside to open it?? and replace the handle and whatever is keeping it from opening?

any help would be greatly appreciated.. she doesnt use the truck often but when she needs it, she neeeds the back doors.

i'd climb in and take the door panel off. once the door panel is off you can open the door and fix the handle.
