Re: traction
i heard the most important thing to do with the lowers is atleast box them in. have good shocks and anti roll bars seem to be important with chevelles

Basically the same frame and suspension. what works on/applies to a 67 works on a 75.

Re: traction
depends on dollars and how hard ya wanna hit it!!!
adjustable uppers ? position or just pinoin angle?
ya need to lower the intersecting point and ya need a way to shorten or lengthen your intersecting point so that you can apply what ya got .
a qwick cheap starting point is to leave the r/sway bar on .box the arms or get new .and lower the rear down with lighter springs to get the weight back and the bar angles better suited for traction . besides jacked up chevelles are so 1979 disco ish.

Hey guys ... i was doing some searching for advise with my 72 chevelle...
Obviously I want my car to hook and hook well !! To this day, I have never been able to slam the GO pedal down and NOT have ANY wheel spin. I've tried full slicks and drag radials with just the lowers boxed. The best has been 1.82 60 ft which sucks.
The car now has professionally boxed upper and lower control arms w/ polys, airbags in both springs, HD rear sway bar (not installed yet), stock springs and summit drag shocks (not installed yet).
I found some expensive drag sway anti-roll bars and they don't mount to the lower control arms like the stock style sway bar; they mount to the cross brace of the frame. Check this pic...

This obviously is a great, proven system and is probably better than the stock style sway bar.
Since I want to use the parts I already have....
would it be a good idea to brace the HD sway bar to the rear axle or would that cause more problems ??
If I just bolt the new sway bar on and the drag shocks then run the car like that (foot-braking)... whats the best 60ft time I can expect out of my car?
NOTE: the car should have aprox 600-650 hp
thanks guys!

Re: traction
I was able to get high 1.4's out of mine(@ 3800 lbs.) with about 700 hp , a 2.75 first gear turbo 400, and 4.11 gears. Unfortunatly it wasn't as consisant as I wanted. Took out the low gear set (trans) and it started going 1.51's very consistantly. The car was on 29.5 x10.5's ( a little hard to fit but doable) . I used South side lowers wwith boxed and poly bushed uppers, air bag in right rear (very low pressure) monroe shocks, and shortened station wagon springs. It seemed that every timeI made the car lower, front or rear, it went faster. Wound up using v8 nova front coils with worn out stock shocks. No rear sway bar ( I did use one early in the development, but took it off one day to save weight and found out I no longer needed it. Hope this helps. PS wanna buy one already done ?
