Trans ????
I bought a TH350 for my Mustang from a friend of mine. There is nothing wrong with it at all. It just happens to have a Pro Brake for a trans brake. I didnt really know what that means til I drove it. It doesnt down shift. It has a manual valvebody w/ a deep pan. What do I have to do to be able to down shift to drive it on the street? I cant see this thing being driver friendly on the street, even though it will see limited street use.
Thanks
Jim

Re: Trans ????
You would need to replace the t-brake valve body with a stock type as well as putting some of the fluid circuits back to stock.
As far as I know, there's no valve body with a t-brake that can still retain auto shift functions.

So if I go to a different trans brake I will still have the same problem?????

Re: Trans ????
If you want automatic shifts, you are forced to give up the trans brake. You can't have both.

Re: Trans ????
I dont mind the manual shifting, I actaully prefer it, I would just like to be able to downshift, if I have to slow down alot and then resume my speed again I can't. If there is nothing I can do about it, that's cool, I'll just have to get used to it.
Thanks

It should go into what every gear you put the shifter in at any speed. if your doing 60mph and you put it in 1st, it should go.

Re: Trans ????
Not sure what brand, The guy I bought it from just said is was a "pro-brake" and it wont down shift. He said its set up so when you throw your shoot and let off the gas it goes into neutral so your not slowing down on the motor.
Thanks

Re: Trans ????
My son built a TH350, for my car, that was made to freewheel in second, on compression, to create less drag. The band was removed to do this, and I would say that this is what was done to your tranny.

well we have two Th350's and one Th400 that have pro brakes and bands removed, they will go into any gear at any speed. What you have is not normal.

no detent cable on carb, i can upshift at any speed, no downshift, if im in 3rd gear and have to slow down alot i have to stop and put it in neutral and start all over again to get back up to speed
