Ignition timing at 63 degrees?!?!?!?!?!?

Post by Activate »

I have a World SBC 427 with Afr heads Mahle pistons compcams roller Compcams Small base circle partnumber 313-6 317-2 r-10 313 adv dur. intake 317 adv.dur Exh. 276dur. @.050 int. and 283dur. @ .050 exh. .660 lift intake and .630 lift exhaust and lobe sep of 110. and 950 small base circle, Crane Billet timingchain, Mallery Magneto with a HI 6TRC ignition and ls2 coil, Pros systems 4150 950 CFM carb with A world single plane intake and a ATI balancer

The rear rubber part of intake gasket was leaking oil, so I removed the intake and made a mark for the ingition.

Built everything on and start the engine and I cheched with a timinglight and it was 63 degree idle??

I tried to get back to 14 dgrees but it won't run backfiring and diying.

What can be wrong?, maybe the balancer key get out, or the timingchain?

Thanks for the help.

Greetings,

Erik.

Double check you have the plug wires on in the correct order on the distributor cap. You might have #1 in the wrong spot and that's why the timing is reading so far off. If it ran ok before you took it apart, look closely at what you did before looking at other things. Chances are it is just something simple.

Boy, i'm glad i'm not the only one to do that. I did put #1 back in the wrong spot, and it all goes downhill from there.GOOD LUCK

Thanks for the advice, but when the 1 one is on the wrong plug it must be run on 6 cylinders instead of 8?
