Sorry Drunk Stang, no will do.
I'm not buying DOT tires just to come down there and race with those guys.
Gimme a set and I'll be there!
I won't even deep stage and give them a shot at me on the tree.
I can run the 10.0 number at anytime in any weather. No, I don't have a 9.6 car that I slow-down either. I cheat and use just enough nitrous to get the number. I never hid that fact from anyone either. No timer on it. Full throttle switch on the throttle body, master switch on my console to kill it if I need to.
I ran a 9.959 to Shens 9.976 second round, took .0285 stripe, bad driving job on my part since I was .01 better than him on the tree.
Maybe I'll buy a spare set of wheels and tires and come mess with you guys next year. I don't have the time to work on it right now. At least I'll be racing for some $$$ down there.

Yeah, I remember getting spanked first round by a Mustang. That's when I saw that the Atco/Cecil guys had their act together! I know it was close, would have to dig-up the slips to see what happened.

Re: Etown Index Results Sep 20
I started the year on 29 X 10 Hooisers. I now have 30 x 11 Hoosiers on there. Got 250 passes out of the 29's. Started spinning in the middle of the wheelstands when spraying a 150hp shot. Trying to hit the 8's before the end of the year just for the heck of it!
I have not used a DOT tire on that car in over 10 years! Do the fronts also have to be DOT?
I will certainly buy a spare set of wheels and get a good DOT tire and go to Atco next year and mix it up with you guys when I can. What's $800 anyway?
I'll stick them in the loft of my trailer and keep them as spares.
Is Atco strict on the 135+ mph stuff? I built my car to go low 10's on motor so I don't have to wear all the stuff. When I want to go fast I put it all on and go low 9's just for fun. I don't want to get D.Q'd for the speed issue.

Re: Etown Index Results Sep 20
Drunk Stang, I found the slip. We were almost identical on the tree. I ran an .04, you went dead-on with a 5. Not much I could have done with that pass, I was full-out, just plain old got my butt whooped!
If Go Dragracing was still around you could have gone back and read that I congratulated you Atco boys for coming up to E-Town and kicking our butts!
I think we should do an Atco vs. E-Town 10.0 thing next year for the fun of it. Lemme see what we can do. We'll try to run it like they do the Pro Mod stuff with the North vs. South. Each round have an Atco regular against an E-Town regular, would be cool. We don't have points here so there should be no problem with it.
Whaddya think Chris, Curtis? The first year we did the 10.0 Index I felt it was us newbies against the 'Vettes, they had been doing this for a year already.
Let's get the rules straight for next year. Wheelie bars ALLOWED! If you wanna run them do so. They were/are allowed this year though it wasn't stated so in the rules. Don't know how that happened but no one got tossed for having them.
I'd love to go to the last Atco 10.0 Index race but I doubt I can make it. I'll be at the Bracket Finals this week in Maple Grove. Next weekend same place for the $10K race on Saturday. Plan on going to the Shakedown Sunday to meet some people and watch some racing. The only time I can hit the track to test would be Wednesday, the day before the Atco Index race.
Get Joe to let me run slicks for that race and I'll be there! I'll even learn to use my transbrake and stage shallow!
I do have a spare set of old ugly welds I can mount a set of tires on if someone has a decent set for loan.....
I only see one more 10.0 race there on their schedule at Atco. Are they adding something else that isn't posted?

I don't think Craig or Chris can make Thursdays. I'm self-employed so I can do what I need to. Let me know about the other dates you mentioned, I'd love to do this. I don't know if Craig or Chris have DOT tires either. I'd like to see Wayne come down too, and maybe David. What about wheelie bars there? Wayne can't run without them. Again, don't know if either of them have DOT tires.
Maybe do an "Outlaw 10.0" race. Allow the slicks and wheelie bars and let's get it on!

Re: Etown Index Results Sep 20
Fellas, this was never intended to be an Atco vs. Etown thing.
It exists because Neil and I pitched to to RP because we thought racers wanted another option. I know I did as I cannot get to Atco on Thursdays. Support from index racers in our area is key to its success. All of us...not one track or another. I was thrilled to see Harry and his friends give this a try. Thank you. Even in our second year of having these classes we are still struggling with it. Your help and support is appreciated. We would like the classes to continue and can work on the issues so if you are willing to work with me, I will work with you. I sacrificed my time after my car broke to video for you guys and posted results...I am doing my part.
After all, we all just want to strap ourselves in the car and race, no matter what class is.
Slow, come on, your input is appreciated too but 7 times more cars? That is not right. We all have to start somewhere.
Harry, I have always had to deep stage my car and have been trying not to have to for years. Never did figure it out yet but welcome all ideas. I know it distracts other drivers and I feel bad having to do it but I do and I did not take your comment personal.
Mike, how in the hell do you get that many passes out of set of tires? I dumped mine after like 60 passes it was so inconsistent.

Re: Etown Index Results Sep 20
Edgar, I don't need to do much of a burnout and with a 'Glide and very little gear in the back it doesn't hit them hard.
THE only reason I bought new ones already is because I got LAZY and didn't rotate every 50 passes like normal and I had cords showing on the driver side tire. They were still working perfect, just did not feel they were safe! And yeah, I had just run a few 1.31 60fts going 9.25 with a 150hp shot the week before I tossed them!
I don't like going DEEP, I lose about a tenth in ET doing so. It's also not natural to me since I never do it other than when I race on the PRO .500 Tree. If I'm in first it should not bother the other person. If they get in first then I can see how me turning out the top bulb can be a distraction since we are looking for the flash of yellow to go. I always discuss the staging procedure with everyone I get paired with, whether it's timeshots or eliminations. Not trying to be sneaky and pull anything on anyone.
When I get time I will try hitting that tree off the trans brake and see if it helps the reaction time. I know for a fact it does nothing for the ET. I tried the brake when I was doing my liscense runs and it did nothing for me. Left at idle, left at 3000, left at 5500, no change in ET at all!
I have to decide which type of Hoosiers to get so I can go race at Atco once in awhile.
I don't think an E-Town vs. Atco rivalry is a bad thing. I don't see either camp trash-talking the others. Face-it, you guys with the 'Vettes and the guys (and gals) from Atco and Cecil have a lot more time and experience with this 10.0 Index stuff and that PRO .500 Tree than some of us from E-Town.
I showed you guys on the first day I did this race last year I could adapt. Was .120-.160 on the tree shallow during the qualifying and running 10.1's. Decided I better roll-in deep first round and put a little N2O on it so I could run the number. I actually took-out one of the good Atco guys running 10.000 taking as little stripe as I could that day. Lost to Chris in the semis, gave him back the stripe by a few thou. He remembers me hitting that nitrous alongside him the whole length of the track, I was just trying to keep a fender on him, we both laughed about that!
I think I can get to Atco once in awhile for their Thursday races. I'll get another set of tires and put them on my old Welds, maybe I'll even polish those turds so they look decent!

Harry, I got your back brother! I'm all for stiring the pot once in a while to see what turns up. Hell if no one ever speaks up then nothing ever changes.
How about a 10.0 - 12.0 run off for "king of the track"!

Chris has a blue 'Vette.
I have my new hoops mounted and balanced. Gotta learn to use the trans brake now and see if I can dance with you boyz!
Ask Curtis what happened the one and only time I tried the brake. We both staged, tree flashes, I matt the throttle, let off the brake pedal, and watched him drive away from me. I'm like , WTF!!!!! One second later I realize I did not let go of the frickin' button!
Since then all I use the trans brake for is to back up.
I'll be down there looking for some good racing guys!
Don't know about your next race but the last two I should make it. We have one more at E-Town too.
