Bummed-Out !

Post by cmracing »

Well, I tried to hit the Por 500 Tree tonight with the trans brake. First shot, stage the car, push the button, right foot to the floor, tree flashes, lift off the brake pedal (yeah, foot was still on it), realized I wasn't moving and then let go of the button, stellar .386 light!

Go right back up and make another shot, actually did everything right, whopping .098 light!

Changed the two-step from 3000 to 4000, try it again. Tree was really quick and caught me off-gaurd a little, .100 light.

I decide to do my proven routine, deep stage at 2500, .017 light.

Guess when I come down to Atco you can all try to line-up against me, I'll even write DUCK on the back window for you all!

I'm not spending anymore time or money to make the car work on that tree just so I can race at Atco. If they won't allow deep, then I'll do their last two races there just to try the brake and then that's it. You guys seems to have enough cars anyway so it won't matter to you. I'll stick with E-Town.

On a positive note, the new Hoosier Quick Time Pros were within .004 in the 60ft between the first three passes. Pretty damn good for brand-new tires! Now I'll have a good set of spare tires in the trailer.

I'm not about to publish all my secrets on a public message board :D but I will say that forget about what you know about racing on a full tree and learn a whole new routine for the pro tree. They are totaly different animals and if you treat them the same you'll get bit in the ass every time! Practice, practice, practice and learn what works for you. It's not about changing the car, it's about changing the way you drive it.

I will put some more time into it, but after deep staging at 2500 and having a .017, .028, and .021 light leaving off the footbrake it really makes me wonder about the car!

I'm also wondering about keeping the line lock engaged while on the brake to keep the suspension loaded, think it will help?

The only other thing I can think about is leaving with a decent shot of juice, that will get the car moving!!!!!

PM me your secrets, I'll keep my mouth shut, just like the dog Duke with the beans commercial!!!!! :)

I give you credit for giving it a shot. I have been struggling with that tree for four years!!!

If I can go to my sons parent-teacher conferences during the day on Thursday I will go to Atco Thursday night for the 10.0 race. Gotta put the kids first, they are only young once, racing will always be around.
