VIPER car alarm system ?
my truck came with a viper 7701 v/p/x system and i have not bothered with it untill now cause it has a remote starter. I think my remote needs to be re-programed does any one have experience with them. right now nothing works with it and the battery in the remote is fresh, the manual for it is for the newest and vipers tech support is call a dealer. any help would be great. Thanks Andrew.

Andrew My Mustang has a Viper alarm on it and if you sneeze 40feet away from the car It sets the alarm off...LoL I Swear to you
Good Luck with it cause I'm clueless myself as to how to reset it to be less sensitive!! It was already on the car when I bought it
I was just gonna cut it at the fuse box BUT then D2 brought something up that made me think....When my alarm goes off my ignition locks up and the car wont let you start it or even turn the key SO I got nervous!!!
GOOD LUCK and let me know if you figure it out.

Andrew, do you know where the "brain box" is? There should be an additional controller box that plugs into the brain to control the auto start. All accesories should be fused. You're should look under the dash and make sure everything is connected and any fuses are good. Also, this truck is automatic trans right?
Daphne, does your Mustang have a proximity sensor? The box is usually mounted somewhere in the center of the interior. Usually it's a clear plastic box, it's not very big either.

Did you test for power? Are there any relays in the circurt from the starter control box into the truck's wiring?
I'm not sure of the color coding of the wiring though. I've never installed these professionally, but I've done a few alarm installs. Trying to throw out some ideas.

Sorry I didn't think I was gonna get any kind of Tech help on this..LoL
I will take a look around and check things out!!! It doesn't bother me as much as my neighbors and friends although I would like to be able to put it on silent or valet mode when I'm working on the car. When I do simple things like an oil change/plugs/even wash the car the lightest tap and the alarm starts bugging out. Thunder sets the alarm off...Lmao Like I said I'm use to it
And I'm not being cheap just could really careless if ppl get pissed off Really!! It is what it is and after having My car broken into(yrs back)because of some asshole that robbed someone and it was taken out on Me, The alarm helps me sleep a bit better at night! Plus all the ppl that get annoyed are all the same ppl that didn't hear a thing when my windows were being smashed out.

Re: VIPER car alarm system ?
I'm on a family member's computer so I'm not able to quote for some reason but anyway...For MustangAngel there should be a little adjustment on the sensor to change the sensitivity of the alarm, at least on the one I had bought the sensor is attached to a bundle of wires somewhere in the car with a ziptie or something and there was a Min-Max adjustment you can adjust with a screwdriver on the sensor to turn up the sensitivity or down.....
...And for MustangAngel and Andrew most alarms (at least in the cars I seen anyway) there is a mini toggle on/off switch that disables the alarm system. My mom has hers down by where some cars have the hood release on the left hand side down by the feet but they can be anywhere, hidden or whatever....or maybe have none at all. And if it just started not working after you changed the battery then yeah should just need to be reprogrammed since you reset it by taking the old battery out, which if it's like for some remote starters it's easy you just keep pressing a button till it finds the correct code? or you hold down certain buttons until you hear the relays click or something like that. Shouldn't be that hard to find though, you can find anything online.

Re: VIPER car alarm system ?
i used to install these...just put it in valet mode....this will disable the alarm from arming but the remote start will still work properly...you said you have the manual so just read up on the sequence...im pretty sure its key on then off and press the button under dash once and let go...then the alarm led will come on solid....it will stay on while in valet mode....you can PM me if you need help as ill probably forget about this thread
