93 Mustang

Post by mightymouse0355 »

Well here is vehicle number 2 with issues now. Was driving home today and was at a stop sign, looked down and the oil pressure gauge was in the red. I take off from the sign and it went up to the a in the normal. I get it home and pull the driver side valve cover after checking the oil which I changed about a month ago, well I proceed to put a valve cover on that has the top cut out of it so I can see if its getting any oil to the heads from the push rods at idle and it was. I check the gauge again and its around the m in normal. Think the pumps on the way out or the gauge, maybbe even the sending unit? Oh just to add its only got 138,000 miles on it, isnt beat on not that, that really matters and its a injected 302 thats basically stock with a couple bolt on's

why not just put an oil pressure gauge right to the port where the factory sending unit goes? if you have good oil pressure then just replace the sending unit, it will already be off the car at that point..

I was gonna say the same thing , I would check it with a mechanical guage . Hook it up at the location of the stock sending unit

I did that today when I got home from work and its giving me 40 psi at idle so i guess the sending unit is bad or the gauge is shot. Its hard sometimes to get time to do the little shit when you have alot already on your plate. Im sure most of you guys are the same way, families to take care of, a house, bills a full time job and lots of shit to fix

yea i have the same problem on my DD pickup.
at idle the guage will go completely nuts or will go dead.
as soon as you hit the gas the guage comes up to normal.
had the sender blow apart on me :mad2: so changed that and the problem was solved for like a week.
it started doing it again so i just got used to it and let it go.
