HEADS/INTAKE QUESTION

IM NEW TO MUSTANGS BUT I AM TRYING TO BUILD ONE ON A BUDGET LIKE MOST OF US NOW. I HAD A QUICK QUESTION ABOUT WHAT FACTORY MADE INTAKE IS THE BEST. I ALWAYS HERE ABOUT THE COBRA INTAKE, BUT WHAT ABOUT THE GT-40 INTAKE WITH THE ROUND RUNNERS. IT LOOKS LIKE THAT ONE WOULD FLOW BETTER. NOW FOR HEADS. IM CONFUSED ABOUT GT-40, GT-40P,THUMPER PORTED HEADS AND WHAT NOT. IM TRYING TO SPEND ABOUT 500-800 ON HEADS.. SO I CANT AFFORD TRICK FLOW OR ANYTHING LIKE THAT. I HAVE PICK UP A USED 92 GT MOTOR FROM WOOKIE. HE SAID IT RAN GOOD SO THATS THE BOTTOM END IM STARTING WITH. ANY ADVISE WOULD BE GREAT.

gt40 and cobra intakes almost flow the same. gt40 heads will go right on with no problem, but the gt40p heads are going to require a different header. both heads flow the same just the sparkplug angle is different on 40p heads.

Gt40p heads flow the best stock wise and you can get them cheaply, they will work with some headers but have issues with otheres because of the plug angle.... I might have a used set for sale soon. The stock springs are pretty weak on them so most people will buy a tfs or crane spring kit for them. Should be well under 800 after rebuilding a set.

As for intakes, the cobra, gt40 and gt40p intakes all flow pretty much the same, The real gt40 is rare find these days and is pretty much for looks the cast P intake or cobra can be ported while the tubular gt40 can't. That doesn't matter much since the lower intake is the bottle neck on all of them since they share the same one.
