fuel line

Post by lownslow1988 »

whats the difference of how the fuel is fed to the nitrous system...right now i have 4an hose tapped off the regulator to feed the solenoid...its a aeromotive pump and reg with 8an feed....ive seen others that have a seperate regulator for the nitrous and i was gonna run a seperate pump and reg for the nitrous alone...should i use 6 or 8an to the reg from pump/cell?? do i need a return with this setup?

Different ways to do it. You can use a cheap pump just for the nitrous side if you want. Use a Holley 803 regulator dead-headed and you will be fine. That pump will only need a -8 in and a -6 to the front. No need for a return.

You DO want to have a seperate regulator for the nitrous side so you can tune the system. Buying a ton of jets isn't the way you want to tune the fuel side.

You can probably put a distribution block on the motor and feed your main pump into it. Put the two regulators on it. That's only if you know your current pump is big enough for the motor and for the nitrous system.

i have a extra holley pump laying around so i was gonna use that....also what does "dead-headed" mean? that theres no return? would it need the 8feed or the 6an be enough?

With all due respect I would check out what type of technical information that your nitrous manufacturer supplies on his web site or give them a call. Sometimes the nitrous companies want a high pressure system 10+ pounds and some only need around 6-7 pounds. You will also need to know how to check the flowing pressure and the right tools for doing that. There is a lot to learn about nitrous so before you try to learn by fire and pick up a tip here or there on the forums maybe find a buddy who runs nitrous and pick his brain and have him help you at the track or help him to learn the basics. Just my thoughts but that's how I learned and I still burnt some stuff up.

a seperate regulator is a good start and follow the psi recommendation for your kit.
Hockey is right about the tune ups vary big time ......
some are base kits and run at 3-4 psi ,normal is 5-7 and some are set on 10 psi .
your feed tubes, solenoids and lines all dictate the amount of fuel flow for a given psi you'll get .and the jets are staggered to match up . untill you see how your car works dont try the mix and match or lean on it . i have seen a big plate with low pis never get fuel to the other end of the plate and burn the back cylinders tuner always ck'd the easy plugs!!!!!!!! law suits to nos followed i'm sure .it had the "same kit" as the nova's
