Transmission line pressure

Post by chevythunder »

I would like to relocate my external tranny cooler. What is the pressure of the lines? The setup on the car when I bought it was the owner cut the original tranny lines and mounted a cooler on the fire wall. He used rubber 5/16 hose with clamps to connect tot he original metal lnes. I want to mount it up in front of the radiator. Can I run metal lines along the frame rails then use rubber hose and hose clamps to connect to the cooler or do I need fittings? If I can use rubber hose, can I use metal flex hose the whole way?

You can use steel lines along the frame and rubber hose designated for transmission use to make the conections to the cooler. Hose clamps are ok as well, just make sure if you need to cut the steel line for proper length, reflare the end of the steel line before you slip the rubber hose on to it.
