Atco's new index qualifying rule
http://www.atcorace.com/artman2/publish ... UPDATE.php
No more qualifying....just two time runs.
32 car all run field....on a Friday night??
First round eliminations will be random pairing??
And how will the random pairing be managed?
WTF! Am I the only one that doesn't understand this?

Well I'm not surprised to see a rule change. They did that last year also one week before the season started. On a positive note, at least everyone will have the opportunity to race the event and not have to worry about not qualifying. It will be interesting to see what the new points structure will be. I'm not sure how the bracket racing points system works.

Re: Atco's new index qualifying rule
even though i did not qualify at 2 events last season , i'm not sure i like this .
was a badge of honor to get in , kind of a slap in the face for all those who put the effort in .
but i do understand that the track is making the class available to a wider bunch of people to race
as far as first round pairings , should be a ladder , otherwise its however you pull in the lanes you end up running the car you pull up next to
you wind up with a lot of guys hanging back at the end of the lanes looking for a duck to line up with hopeing for an easy win first round
well , its gonna be what its gonna be , i'll still be there
btw ? does this mean i can show up late , no time trails and just go right into first round ??

Huge changes late in the game.
I don't get the 32 car ALL RUN FEILDS. What happens to the 33rd car and how do you determine that car?

Re: Atco's new index qualifying rule
hey edgar , btw , nice to finally meet up , was a good day .
usually in the case of an all run 32 car field , even though they say its time runs and not qualifying , they are still keeping track and the fastest 32 (without going under )get to run .
that how etown does mean & top street anyway
think atco just didn't word it right

That's a very good question. One that Atco should clarify right away to avoid any confusion.

Just FYI -
E-Town Qualifies Mean & Top Street. They do not get time shots. There is a First Round Ladder generated off qualifying.

Re: Atco's new index qualifying rule
hmmmmmm, not sure how many races I will make it too at ATCO, but I think it sucks. There should be qualifying and limited to a 16 car field. Cecil screewed up making it an all run field for 09 as well. Half the battle of the 8.50 index is making the show!! As for the random ladder??? well it is what it is!!

I don't see getting 5 rounds in on a Friday night. If anyone wants to go duck hunting next Friday night, get next to the white Pontiac.

If it is an all run 32 car filed.....Is the 9.00 and faster rule still in effect?

Redgar - you'd have to talk to Bill. He was on the phone with Joe Sway Sr. for about 15 minutes regarding these changes. Check your pm's.

Per Joe Sr., Everything is the same except no two qualifying runs. It's now two time runs, and then the first round will be run in random order. After that it a sportsman ladder.
No mention of how cars will be paired for the first round. I'd give Joe a call if you're still not sure. I myself have a few questions. I just left a message on Joe Jr.'s voice mail. I'll let you know what happens.
