engine tilt?

Post by lownslow1988 »

how much should the engine and trans be angled? i had a custom made trans crossmember made, but i think its not right and is part of my driveline problem...i put a angle finder on the top of the manifold and its 1-2degrees downwards....should it be level or tilted down some?

you need to cheak your drive shaft angles. there needs to be matching and min. angles front and rear on hard acelleration . if one or both ends "0" out your shaft will wobble . depending on your rear mounting will tell how much extra pinion angle you will need .

same question I have. I just swapped a 400 transm into my 98 f body. Used an aftermarket crossmember. The manufacturer, when I asked, told me to use a tranny mount from a 1 ton chevy truck (91 model). The mount fits the tranny and into the crossmember fine. But the mount is about 2.5 inches tall and angle just doesn't seem right.

Anyone know what angle in relation to say the framerail, ground, or the pinion should be ( I need to relate the angle to something).

I can always adjust the pinion angle with the adjustable torque arm.
