Whats up with these dragtser guys?? One was lippin off to Tony as soon as he got there and the one that wanted to pick a fight with Harry Sr. The one lipping off to Tony made a pretty serious threat to him. These guys need to learn not to take up 4 or 5 parking spots and go around like they are somebody. I know they are spending more entry fee money than us but it doesnt give them the right to act like a__holes.

Re: last night
I've run into this a few times myself. Some guys will hold 4 or 5 spots with cones. If it is a familiar face i could care less but if it is a full lot and no spots are available they cannot hold the spots with cones. Just move the cone and ignore the guy if he is bitchin cause they are not supposed to hold that many spots.

Re: last night
Easy enough to fix, pave some of that DIRT around there!!!!!!!!!
People may now always like the ways thing go at E-Town but you certainly have to admit it is one of the nicest facilities in the North East.
I've had my problems at Atco with parking also. Sorry, race cars with slicks shouldn't have to park in the dirt while street cars hog-up the paved parking...............

Re: last night
Just to chime in on this issue and to provide an opinion that is Dave's and not Atcodave's. Just wanted to give some background information to maybe better understand the situation.
Please understand that Atco Raceway does reside in the Pine Barrens of New Jersey. That means they are somewhat hamstrung on what they can and cannot do to the facility. Whether you agree or not does not matter, the Pinelands Commission is very powerful and does serve a purpose. Atco Raceway cannot simply do whatever it wants to the property. That being said the Sways have spent a lot of money over the years adding paved parking spots, even if it was not the easiest thing to do. Take a look at http://www.historicaerials.com and look at Atco Raceway through the years. You can clearly see how much pavement has been added in the past 15 years. Really the only time racers have to park in the dirt now is during a NHRA Lucas Oil divisional race (because there are about 500 cars) and during some of the summer series shootout races. There could be no street cars parking on pavement because streetcars do not run that same weekend, everyone had slicks. Trust me, Atco Raceway fully understands the issue with people having to park in the dirt and they have done a lot to improve the facility.
The other issue people have brought up is racers saving spots. I would rather not touch that with a ten foot pole but I will stick my neck out a bit. At some other tracks and at some other venues saving spots is not only allowed but encouraged. A lot of the bracket racers stay 3 or 4 days and want to be close to their friends and family. I'm sure they look at it as time spent with friends as much as it is time spent racing. Some of these guys have been racing for 30+ years and have always parked in the spot and might feel that is "their" spot. Just be polite and if there is a problem, grab an Atco Raceway official and asked for assistance. You have the right to be there just as much as anyone else.
I liked it when all the index cars were parked together on the far side of the track. Just seemed easier for everyone. From running the event to letting the fans know where all the index cars are at if they want to check them out in the pits.
Oh yea, don't be afraid to talk to the bracket guys. When it comes down to it they are racers just like everyone else and trust me, from talking to them, they really enjoy watching the door cars and truly respect what you are doing.
Can't we all just get along?
Thanks to all the racers for making this year great so far. Everyone at Atco Raceway truly appreciates the support.

Re: last night
I went to Atco once last year to race in Pro and Super Pro. I was suprised to find that I would need two different cars to do this. E-Town and Island doesn't have that rule. Anyway............ Here I am driving throughout the pit area trying to find somewhere to park my truck and 30ft trailer and I see MANY of the spots are RESERVED. I asked an Atco Official where I could park. He said there is plenty of room on the OTHER SIDE of the fence. So that is where I parked. I saw PLENTY of street-tired cars in the paved areas. Hey, whatever. If I was a regular there or told my buddies that race at E-Town with me to save me a spot I would have been ok. Now the rule about two different cars for two different catagories................ Seems like the Super Pro cars keep getting everything they want. Take away Cross-Talk and let's see them whine even more!

No double entry or doubleing up 1 car has been a rule at atco for at least 5 years, Joe sway came up with it to keep the point system in all the classes legit. Makes it much harder to block for yourself, and gives him an easier time at the end of the season when it comes t the bracket finals. That rule costs the track money every points weekend, but Atco wants a level playing feild... Period. Hell cecil has friggan buybacks for the first two rounds on points days, you can go out first round then buyback and start blocking for yourself.
The guys who are assholes aren't being assholes to you cause you are an Index racer, they are just asshole in general. I raced S/P at Atco for 4 seasons, 2 in a door car, 2 in a very nice rail, i had plenty of run in's with all kinds of A-holes, trust me, these people kick thier dogs, and cheat on their taxes they could careless what your driving, they are on their own agenda.
My trips to e-town are every bit as aweful as your trip to Atco, but you just gotta make the most of it and learn to apprieciate your home track, cause no track will ever measure up to what your use to.
PM me next time you go to Atco, if i'm going to be there i'll save you spots and you'll have a better day racing.

Thanks, we'll see how the season goes here. I may go to the Big $ Footbrake Races down there.
I would never, ever allow buybacks into a points program, EVER! That is stupid beyond all belief. To run another consolation class / gambler class for the first round losers is fine. How the hell can you allow buybacks into a points program???????????
I see nothing wrong with entering the same car in two different classes if it meets the rules. I footbrake my car and wanted to run Pro and Super Pro but was told by a few that the Super Pro drivers whined that the Pro drivers came back from thier first round in eliminations and had a better idea of what to dial.
I was amazed. I am willing to pay the entry fee, go out there with no trans brake, no delay box, NOTHING and race them. My car was too fast to enter in Street ET. I did have DOT's on it. Hey, that's ok, their track, their rules, just wish I knew ahead of time, my fault, not theirs..............
I do like their track, just wish they could get more parking. Not their fault. I guess they also have neighbor problems and have curfew issues too. They actually had some pretty smart people running the water box. After my first time shot the guys knew I don't spin my tires in the water and where I wanted to stop to do my burnout. other tracks have people look at me like I'm doing something wrong!

Sorry to you and anyone else if you did not have a great experience. There are always people who ruin it for everyone else no matter what you do.
Seems like when you get down to it people in certain classes just want to park together? Would it be better if all the index cars parked together on the far side?

I agree and a lot of us have been parking over there this year. Definately the coolest bunch of guys (and girl or two
) that I have had the pleasure to race with!!! Going to the index race is as much about racing as it is about hanging out with your friends. And with that said..... how about putting us back on a ladder for first round so we don't have to keep trying to avoid lining up with our friends. Pot luck on the ladder makes everyone happy
Thanks Dave. This thing is awsome
