autometer egt probe?

what would be the best header tube to install egt probe on a bbc? i cant put it in any rear tubes[cant see them let alone get a clamp on them. i have good access to #1 and #3 #2 and #4. 4 being the easy one. also how far from head is reccamended? thanks ken ps i do have a lm1 monitor but need to take headers off to install a weld in bung but dont feel like shitting with that right now thanks ken

Any tube is fine. There should only be a small difference between cylinders and you would only address that on a dyno with 8 EGT's
