Rear Gear recomendation

Post by oldsguy »

Hello all

With winter comming close I plan to upgrade the rear in the Cutlass. Right now the car has a 330 but I in the process of building a 455 to replace that.

The car is a street car with occational track time. I am sticking with a olds rear so my choices are limited. I can get a 342 355 390 or 430 gears,

What are everyones opinions

Thanks

With all the torque that 455 will produce, you won't need much gear. I'd go with the 355's since it's more of a sreet car than a track car. I had a 74 Cutlass with a stock 350 rocket. After i blew the 3.08 rear apart, i put in a 3.55 10 bolt out of a chevelle and it was perfect. Damn i miss that car
