sbc rebuild question
How much (if any) of a difference is there between a traditional sbc and a LT1?? I can pick up an LT1 for about $300 but it needs bearings and probably rings (has 140k on it).

Re: sbc rebuild question
the bottom end is all the same except for the snout of the crank for the optispark, timing cover, timing chain the engine will cost you pretty much the same as a standard sbc minus the optispark and little odds and ends ,just remember the heads are reverse flow, they have regular intakes for the lt1 so you can take the opti out an run a regular dist, that is what we did to my cousins car and his 8sec camaro

p.s. my car had lt1 cyl heads on a standard 383 i still have them i had bigger valves and converted them the regular flow
