Need c-clip elim if adding rear disc brakes?

I'm building an 85 Monte which has a modified Chevelle 12-bolt rear. I trying to figure if adding rear disc brakes will let me not use c-clip eliminator kit? I plan on buying one of the Ebay rear disc kits that use GM parts with custom bracket.

im pretty sure you dont need c clip elim when using disc brakes bc the caliper bracket will hold the the rotor and axle in if the axle would break
