I was excited to go to this show, especially receiving a call from Mike at about 7:30AM that the place was already packing up to the brim. I've never been to this event so I didn't know what to expect. When I rolled in at 9am I was amazed at the sheer amount of people already packing the place as well as on the road outside on their way in.

On the far side of the track was the car show area, and vendor area. The car show was packed full of sweet rides, and just a wall of people checking them all out. They had the show area nicely organized between classes. Some owners braved the heat and sat out by their cars, I spoke to a few and they said they liked to meet the fans and would brave the sun. Many however, got out of the scorching heat and hung out under the shaded area under the trees as you enter the grounds. Of note in the GM Performance Parts display.. Project X was there!

We seem to keep getting hit with heat waves during the big shows this year.. but hey, I guess it's better than rain, right ?? :) At one point I saw track surface temps of 120+ on an instant read thermometer.. HOT! This was the kind of day where you could only be in the stands for so long before you had to head back to the cover of the ez-up tent and dump some cold water on your face.

On to the racing.. there was just a ridiculous amount of cars running the bracket classes.. so many I think they split them up between the days. I've never seen so many cars running down the track, of all different makes and model of Chevy and also they ran cars with Chevy powerplants.

The true street class brought a nice turnout -- I want to say about 32 cars. Those guys headed out on their cruise at about 1PM, came back, and did their 3 hot laps. Taking the win was Marc Shankweiler (did I spell it right? :) , aka mrhockey, I think his average of the 3 passes was in the 8.60s. Congrats Marc!! A bunch of GoneDragRacing forum members ran the true street class, as well as showed and also ran the bracket class -- was good to see so many of you at the races  I know Paul was running that big money Procharger class, hope he did well!

Anyways enough of my rambling, I encourage everyone else to chime in about their experiences.

Thanks to Rose and Jeff from Super Chevy Show for giving me access to get down on the line for pics! It's just not the same from the stands :)

Thanks also to Marc for giving us a place to crash during the day, and trying to save us spots and all that. I know it was crazy busy and you have a lot to worry about with the racing going on -- much appreciated man.

Here you go folks

Nothing outstanding guys but thank you nonetheless :)

One thing I was wondering.. where there a lot of newbs racing in the bracket race or something? I saw autostart go at least 4 times, lot of double bulbing, not something that I've seen much this season

possibly seth, its just a courtesy thing, some people do it just to try to fluster the other, which isnt right in my mind. then again everyone and there mother was racing up there, so most likely some of them didnt know proper track etiquette.

 that last one.. was pure luck. she kept turning around looking around, had to sneak that. had it in my hand pointing to the left while I was walking forward, sort of came out :) Thanks though!! I really like taking shots down at the end, with chutes out.. trying to get the ability to do it at the other tracks

I am not sure what Seth does better, cook or take photos. Next big race we should do a GDR cookout, members only. :)

Pics are no joke.
