Any body have a moroso slide rule? how much HP/Tq does it say it takes for 3625lbs to go 139 mph in the 1/4 mile?

rick...what's the rpm ? i took a stab at 7500 rpm and came up with 840 horse at the flywheel and 590 torque but i did not use the moroso slide rule. it's kinda a shot in the dark nor knowing the gear ratio , tire size ,trans type , conv. and such but i think it is within 10 horse and 10 ft/lbs.

A shitload, of course that's not a scientific analysis !!

6680 rpm. 3.73 gear and a 275/60-15 radial (27.9 inch) converter is at 7.2% slippage (based on data fom a LM-1/LM-3 combo)

Makinchips, the top end MPH of 139 is about 7 mph low, from where the1/8 mph is, 115.

Just curious what that moroso deal says, i think Oldhead has one/invented it?

o.k. rick....that info you gave me adds some torque to the first number i gave you. with horsepower staying the same at around 840 the torque is closer to 640 ft/lbs. it also says that at that trap speed , rpm , and tire size your gear ratio would be about 4.00. that gear may be hurting it just a tiny bit. maybe some 3.90 gears ? the conv. sounds like it's pretty close.

@3700lbs calculates to 795hp or so

Actaully neeed to get rid of some gear. 3.73 is as numerically low as i could go with a 4 series carrier. hyd lifters are pumping up at 6680 to 6700 rpm, thus the reason why the car only picked up 24 mph on the top end. no one makes a 3 series spool.

I guess thats respectable. is that with the moroso deal?

gotcha.

why not swap out for a baby solid flat tappet with a 110-112 lsa ?

114 LSA on a motor that, shall we saw, isn't normally aspiirated. Don't need overlap when the manifold is pressurized.

would kinda be a step backwards from the Hyd Roller it has now... It's my street car, i like a nice quiet, maintainence free valvetrain.

145 on the seat, I forget the spec over the nose. I'm going to swap out the set of OE roller lifters for a set of the Comp Cam pro magnums. they operate with .000 to .004 preload, and are anti pump up. I'm going to shim the springs .015 to .030 and swap in a set of Ti retainers in the next few weeks... try to get another couple hundred rpm out of it.

more spring pressure 425/450lbs over the nose or so & you can limit the lifter travel yourself wshims that can be purchased from Macmaster Carr Ind supply.

I have to get it apart and see where the springs are now, and see how much room i have to shim and what psi I can get them to. as for the lifters, iagree with what you said, but i'd still be relying on that little paper clip looking retaining ring if i shimmed them, and if i'm pulling the intake off to do lifters i'd rather just put new aftermarket lifters in that i feel are more up to the task.
