Drivetrain Stress

I was on another forum and they were arguing what would cause more stress on the drivetrain of the car, mostly the rear axle. A slick or a drag radial? Just wondering what your opinion would be.

A slick, by a bunch, the winding and unwinding of the sidewall causes frequency changes in the applied load. If you twist a steel bar, it will deform, if you twist it back and forth, it'll snap.

I disagree. The slick will absorb a bunch of the shock. Many cars, myself included have snapped 33spline and larger race axles with drag radials! They are also prone to wheel hop which is extremly hard on parts!

IT ALL DEPENDS !!!
IF IT SPINS LESS .
IF IT HOOKS WITH A STIFFER SIDE WALL YOU WILL TWIST IT MORE !
IT IS EASY TO PROVE .TAKE A TORQUE WRENCH OUT AND TRY DIFFERENT DIAMETER AND LENGTH EXTENSIONS . YOU HAVE TO ROTATE THE THE LEVER FURTHER WITH THE LONGER AND THINNER THE SHAFT TO APPLY THE SAME FORCE .
THE PROBLEM WITH TOO SOFT AS GAME SAYS YOU GET TIRE SHAKE AND OR RUN OVER THE SIDEWALL AND INDUCE THE LOAD UNLOAD CONDITION . JUST LIKE WHEEL HOP ON TO STIFF. YOU CYCLE THE AXLE BACK AND FORTH IT WILL BREAK SOONER .WHEN YOU WANT TO BREAK A PIECE OF STEEL YOU HAVE TO TWIST IT ENOUGH TO FAIL IN ON DIRECTION OR BEND IT BACK AND FORTH IT ALL IS BAD!!!!

Loading and unloading will break something all day.. This is why most cars break things, look at stick cars, unloaded suspension and instant BANG, not good or the need for more expensive exotic materials to deal with the constant abuse

The question was as i read it, slick or drag radial harder on parts..

Drag radial.... No give in the side wall and dead hooks is much harder on the driveline...
