I have a th350 in my camaro. It's not a manual valve body, but have to shift manually because i have no vacuum source for the modulator. Anyway, when i do my burnout, i shift from 1 to 2 then roll out. I use to shift all three gears till i read that that's a death sentence for the trans. Then i read where i should leave it in 2nd and do my burnout. What should i do? I do have a line loc. Thanks

The shift into 2nd is the death sentence, especially if you have a stock intermediate sprag. Usually if you can stabilize the rpm before you shift you'll be fine, driving out of the burnout in 2nd gear is also bad. When the tires catch, all that shock goes on the weak sprag. a 350 isn't a bad trans, just have to get the good Th400 sprag in it for longevity.

after running the same cars and set ups gamering went through 3 sprags and adamsvega 0.

with out a man. valve body you cant start in sec. gear so you'll have get it stabilized spinning but just above stall rpm .
feather the throttle and shift .if you have street gears you wont need 3rd .race gears will need 3rd. when you get it rolling after the shift keep feeding throttle till the tires start to drag the motor down let off the line loc and hold it there .let it walk out past the slime in front of the tires but try to roll off before the tires strike hard.
think of these points
the ego,adrenaline and machismo of the burn out kill the trans
and you don't launch off the just the middle 2" of the tires so why in gods name do you wanna have your tires at that high speed just heating the middle ???/
