i cant figure out this bog

Post by BIGWOOD »

i cant figure out the bog in my car...i tried launching it all differnt rpms.. anywhere from 2500...all the way up to 5800... seems like i get the best at 3000-3400...but it bogs out... i have a 302 with trickflow heads and cam.. victor jr manifold with a holley 670cfm street avenger... is it the carb? im at around 6 pounds of fuel pressure... i have a 38 accel pump in it... nothing in the back...could it be too much fuel? too little? trying to get the 60' down... i ran a 12.6 with a 1.8 60' with the bog...

thanks for the help!! i appreciate it

Hey Bigwood, try putting the stiffest spring in the secondary and see if that helps some.If it does, I would suggest you try a 650 or 750 double pumper. When the secondaries open, there is a delay till enough air is drawn through the venturi to pull fuel through the main jets. The squirter in the secondary side on a double pumper eliminates that bog. Let me know how it turns out and good luck.

Most holley's (street) come with a #28 squirter in the accellerator pump, try a 31, see if bog goes away. Is the bog immediate or maybe one second after nailing it, if the bog is late, buy a secondary spring quick change kit, it'll come with a variety of springs, and excellent tuning instructions.
