2001 blazer cruise control issue

friend said that after he clicked his cruise control off his gas pedal and the truck had kept going
saposedly there is a piece by the gas pedal there was a plastic piece the broke and he was wondering if theres a replacemnt piece for that or does he have to replace the whole cable and everything else in it? i dont know i havent seen it for myself but and help would / .. . . .yeah help
