I have a 406 s.b.c with dart pro 1's,around 13 to 1 comp, 6 inch rods, timing at 36,etc..Now i have a 160 degree thermostat in it now. Is that hot enough for proper combustion in this weather(winter)or should i maybe try a 180 or 195? Thanks :driving:

your water temp wont get below 165 if the cooling is ok. it is the intake and carb temp that will give ya fitz the fuel will puddle up if it is a open or singe with no cross over or oil splash to heat it up . the last carburated cars had heater grids under the carb to warm and break up the fuel to keep it happy cold.

Im talking about combustion. Right now the car is running in the garage. I can't even stand in there because the raw, unburnt fuel due to it just being started. Now as it warms up, it kinda gets more tolerable in there. But im concerned that a 160 t stat isn't allowing it to get warm enough for proper combustion.
