no fuel to front 6 cyl on v8 carb ford 302 while in driveway

I have an 84 Mustang GT with a 302 with Edelbrock performer intake and holley carb and mech fuel pump on the timing cover. I just fixed a wiring problem that happend before I bought it. I reset the timing, all lifters move fine, all cylinders push a good amount of air with my finger over the spark plug hole. New plugs and all have good spark. My driveway has a slant but nothing bad at all and any other carb car I have has no problem starting in it. It ran for 3 seconds after putting starting fluid in each cylinder but after that I can hear the back two firing but after pulling the plugs again the front 6 are dry and the back two are soaked.

Do I need a new carb? Do I need a fuel pump? Another problem? Any cheap tests or anything I can do before I dump more money into it? Yes, I know I can try and put it on level ground but my driveway should not be a problem plus the township will tow it if I put it in the street and cant get it back up in the driveway.

Thanks in advance.

To me it sounds like you have the opposite problem. The front 6 are firing, and the back 2 are not. Thats why the plugs for those 2 are wet...

yeah if the plugs are wet than its not firing. What wiring problem did you have before.? Is it a stock ignition set up?

reason I think the back two were firing is that the exhaust port on the header was hot on both of the back ports and the rest of the header was ice cold. I think Im gonna try the edelbrock carb off my elcamino that I know works fine in my driveway and see if thats the problem.

a carb will put fuel into the plenum and it will go where it needs with air flow . your rear two cyls may have been flooded out due to hard start and puddling liquid fuel in the manifold . your back bowl float may be stuck and pourin in . you could have plug wires crossed up or a dist.or module controller set for 6 cyl. .... you should not need starter fluid .even my worst big cam low comp motors will light off (may take 5 trys till it gets hot and stays runnin) look down the carb when it is running and see .. does it clear up if reved to 3k and held for 15 seconds!!!!

I switched the carb on the Mustang to the one off my camino and it fired right up. I guess Im just gonna need to buy another carb for the elcamino now. Thanks
