Abandoned car

Post by Espresso »

I know i have not been around in a while. But I had to post this.

This car has been abandoned. Been sitting for a LONG time. No one is ever home. No cars ever in the driveway & light fixtures are gone off the house.

Who just abandons a car like this? Only thing i can think of is that the car may have possibly been stolen. The car has never run on any tracks here.... not that there are many.

I am in the process of trying to find out who owned the house & if they did in fact abandon the car, I am going to go get it.
No one here has built the car, so I believe it came from the states.
If it does look familiar PLEASE let me know. As this car should have an owner... somewhere.

This man is clearly lying, as you can see the seat is set up for someone 6'1" in the pic... definitely my long lost race car :driving:

In all honesty pretty crazy it's just sitting there.

I have been in Panama for 4 years now. I had a thread on the "other forum(do I dare not speak it name?) back in '06 about me coming over here. I moved here from South Florida.

I have not been to south jersey in MANY years. I hate thinkin' about it because I miss the tracks there(anywhere in the states really but especially Jersey area). I have not even SMELLED race fuel since I moved here. There is a place here that sells VP fuel but they want $14/gallon. Considering most "race cars" here don't run much over 20 lbs of boost/ or have high compression. They just do not use it.
This is why the subject car in this thread is just so.....weird(for lack of any better words). Why in the world would someone bring this car here, with NO intention of ever using it, or worse even a PLACE to use it. The only operating race track is a old air port, that has busted pavement. Has not been a decent track here in over a decade.
There are a couple pro street cars here, One I think FINALLY broke single digit's late last year.
Here is a pic of the "track"..notice the grass..LOL

Yeah, 4 years..time flies. I love it here. Granted it is not as clean as the states, but money goes a LONG way here. I have a 2200 sq ft appt in the middle of downtown. I can walk anywhere, just like NYC. The cost $70,000. My payment with ins is only $400/month.
Liam's school is wonderful. He is now in the 2nd grade & knows 3 languages. He goes to one of the best schools here, with transportation to & from school it is only $300/month.

I finally started ordering parts for the Jag, shipping part from the states can get rather expensive. From summitracing alone I pay $200/month just in customs charges..LOL.
But the next few months I will not be doing much as I am having right knee surgery this Wednesday.

The medical care here is 2nd to none. In the states, the V.A. would not approve ANYTHING but medications for me. Yet, here without hesitation, they approve anything I have a disability rating for. In Florida I had to fight them for $4 worth of motrin. Here in the 4 years, they have approved over $700,000 in surgery & procedures alone. Not including my upcoming knee surgery, which I am sure will run over $100K...it's crazy man. I cannot believe it. 2 days to fight for Motrin...20 minutes to approve a 100K surgery.

Can you walk up to the car???? There may be a chassis tag on it..If so you may be able to find the original owner if the chassis shop is still in business...

How long has it been sitting there like that? In the pic, is that the garage door laying on the floor?

Does the home look like there are ever any inhabitants there at any time during any given day?

I wonder if by going up to it, you may cause a ruse w/ the locals or neighbors (or get yourself into any trouble by going up onto the property)?

This thread popped up on LS1Tech.

Look at post number 7, by 'gapp94vert':

It actually looks like it could be a Pat Musi car going by the paint job. His race cars usually have that paint scheme with the white Z going down the side.

Figured I'd jump over and share the info. Good luck!

It's also getting some coverage from this website as well:

http://www.dragzine.com/news/abandoned- ... in-panama/

Someone is bound to know where that Camaro came from and possibly the story behind it as more and more sites pick up on the pic & curiousity...

EDIT: WOW  - after looking at the link above, http://www.competitionplus.com/04_15_20 ... stian.html, I wonder if that is one of Pat's vehicles and if so, how did it end up over there? Has anyone contacted Musi to see if he knows anything about it? The white "Z" is a dead giveaway, if not the real deal, than a damn good shot at making a replica of Pat's paint scheme...

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

For those wondering the car is not stolen, it was buit by a good friend of mine in panama years ago. He passed away and the car was sold by his widow and never finished completelly. There are plenty of fast car in Panama but not a good track to race them. The track we use to race is now an airport in the middle of the city. If you think that camaro is nice you should see was is in peoples garage. And yes it has a Shafirof 540 big block!!
